New Harmony Regional Library

The New Harmony Regional Library is a library based around the use and learning of technology. The image to the left is the floor plans for the library. On the first floor is the circulation desk, display space for any exhibits, and the auditorium for presentations, lectures, or movies. The second floor has the cafe space for visitors to get a quick snack while they read or work along with a little bit of stack space for books. Floors three and four are the same with stack space, reading space, classrooms, and computer labs. The fifth floor has the rare book section with a few rooms for reading the special collections and offices for staff members. There is also two large conference rooms for any meetings that would need to take place. Each floor has its own green roof spaces for visitors to take advantage of during their visit along with the large green roof on the top of the building.

The building is constructed of steel with large exterior steel columns to help with the large loads. The exterior materials are white aluminum panels along with photovaltic glass to help offset the electrical costs of the building. The third material is mirror aluminum panels that surround the auditorium that gives the impression and look of a glass reflection while not allowing natural light into the space. The floor to floor heights are consistent through the entire building at 18'-0" per floor.
