Arc 462 Semester Project

 

This project required me to take my New Harmony Regional Library design and calculate all of the loads that would be on each floor. The next step was to figure out how I was going to structure the building. I decided to go with floor to floor trusses that would wrap the building and have no interior columns except in the core. The columns in the core would be hidden in the walls so they would not be visible but would still do their jobs. Next I had to take and begin designing all of the beams that are in the portion of the building that I decided to figure out. This project proved to be very interesting and completely changes how the design process works when structure must be considered and designed. Click on the link below to expand and view the project.
